Gerald French & The Original Tuxedo Jazz Band
The Original Tuxedo Jazz Band is the oldest established jazz band in the world. Organized in 1910 by Oscar “Papa” Celestin, the band has been one of the main sources of New Orleans Jazz for more than 110 years. Performing for Presidents, Kings, and Queens, the band has performed the world over as jazz music ambassadors. The band performs the same repertoire that was performed by the band in the early days, but in a fresh new way. “We don’t play like those guys originally did, but we still play with the spirit and feeling of New Orleans,” says bandleader Gerald French. “It’s happy music. It’s dance music. It’s for people to enjoy.”
