James Andrews
A protege of soul man Allen Toussaint, James Andrews has taken his place alongside of contemporaries swinging the New Orleans tradition in contemporary ways. Andrews is the real thing and there's no novelty in his chops. James Andrews, trumpeter and vocalist is grandson of the late Jessie ""Ooh-Poo-Pah-Doo"" Hill, older brother to Troy Andrews (aka "Trombone Shorty"), and determined to keep the flame of New Orleans Soul and R&B alive and burning in the hearts of many. His appearances in HBO's Treme sparked a fire that rekindled the hearts of many and kept the spirit of New Orleans alive throughout the world over with his own rendition of Ooh-Poopah-Doo. Andrews' contribution to the 2011 Grammy Nominated Soundtrack of HBO's Treme has pivoted Andrews even more forward in his career as a stellar musician. Other appearances include Jazz At Lincoln Center New York Tribute to Louis Armstrong Festival for two consecutive seasons; The Sundance Film Festival 2010; New Orleans' New Years Rockin' Eve Countdown to 2011.
