Survey Taker

Each year French Quarter Festival and The University of New Orleans collaborate on a questionnaire to determine the economic impact of the festival in the city. Volunteers are needed to conduct visitor surveys. Each survey consists of approximately 26 questions and takes approximately five minutes to complete. This job requires an outgoing personality and standing for the duration of your shift.

**Volunteers working as Survey Takers will participate in a ticket earning program. For every 3 surveys completed, they can be redeemed at Volunteer Check-in for 1 food/bev ticket (up to 10 tickets)

Information Booth

Groups of volunteers are needed to staff our information booths to help festival goers with questions and sell food and beverage tickets. Knowledge of New Orleans, French Quarter, and the Festival is strongly advised. This job requires standing in a small area for the duration of your shift.

Merchandise Sales

Groups of volunteers sell official festival merchandise in our merchandise booths. This job requires standing in a small area for the duration of your shift. Volunteers may be asked to do some light lifting and restocking.  Money-handling may be involved.

Volunteer Check-in

Volunteers will assist the check-in process of fellow volunteers, help locate booths, and provide volunteer t-shirts.  We have 2 Volunteer Check-In booths within the festival, at Jax Lot and The Old US Mint.  Being able to take direction well and adapt under busy environments is a plus. Knowledge of New Orleans and the French Quarter is strongly advised but not a must.

Volunteer Usher

French Quarter Festival spans the entirety of the French Quarter; therefore it can be tough for volunteers to find the location of their shift, especially if they aren’t familiar with the city.  Volunteer Ushers will assist Volunteer Check-In and escort volunteer(s) to their shift location if needed.

Beer and Cocktail Booths (21+ Age Requirement)

Groups of volunteers will pour water, soda, beer, wine and cocktails in one of our many beverage booths located throughout the festival.  All Beer and Cocktail booths will be selling alcohol, therefore it is required that volunteers be 21+.  Beer and beverage booth volunteers will be asked to pour drinks and/or pass them to paid cashiers.   Money-handling will not be involved.

This job may require standing in a small and sometimes wet area for the duration of your shift.  Beverage Booth Volunteers may be asked to stand for long periods of time (2-4 hours), and occasionally lift up to 15 pounds.

Beer Garden (21+ Age Requirement)

The Beer Garden is a new addition to FQF, located at the Old US Mint, where groups of volunteers will pour beer.  This location will be selling alcohol, therefore it is required that volunteers be 21+.  Beer Garden volunteers will be asked to pour drinks and pass them to paid cashiers.  Money-handling will not be involved.

This job may require standing in a small and sometimes wet area for the duration of your shift.  Beverage Booth Volunteers may be asked to stand for long periods of time (2-4 hours), and occasionally lift up to 15 pounds.

Luzianne Iced Tea Booth

This position will be very similar to our other beverage booths; however, this role can be filled by volunteers 16+.  Luzianne Iced Tea booth volunteers will be asked to pour beverages, organize supplies, and assist in all operations of the booth.  Money-handling will not be involved.

Kid’s Area – Chevron STEAM Zone

Volunteers assist children with various activities at the Chevron STEAM Zone kid’s area, located on the Riverfront Natchez Wharf. This job requires you to interact with children and their parents. This job requires volunteers to stand for the duration of their shift and may be asked to assist with set-up and break-down each day. Interest in education or children’s activities is a plus.

Bike Easy’s Bicycle Valet, Sponsored by Blue Bikes

Groups of volunteers will greet festival attendees looking to secure their bicycle in one of the corrals at the US Mint or along the riverfront. Volunteers will get bicyclists to fill out their contact information and provide a stub to claim their bike when they return.  Volunteers will then walk the bike through the coral to an available parking spot and securely park it. This job may require continued short walks and handling bicycles in a careful manner.

Let Them Talk, Presented by Jones Walker

Volunteers will assist staff in giving information to Symposium attendees, helping with seating, general maintenance and trash cleanup in between speakers. We ask that volunteers remain professional and courteous to seminar attendees and speakers alike. Signs will be placed throughout for directions.

FQF Film Fest with Cinema on the Bayou, Presented by NCIS: New Orleans

Volunteers will assist in providing attendees with information, seating, and any general maintenance as-needed.   We ask that volunteers remain professional and courteous throughout the film presentations.   This job is located at the historic Le Petit Théâtre du Vieux Carré.  The film fest offers 3 films per day, on Saturday and Sunday, with focuses on aspects of Louisiana and New Orleans culture, with particular attention to music and musicians.  Films will be followed by a Q&A with the filmmakers

Greeters – The Old US Mint

Greeters assist in providing directions and assisting in crowd control.

Information Assistance – The Old US Mint (1st floor inside @ Front Desk)

This position takes place inside the US Mint on the 1st floor at the information desk.  Information assistance works with the US Mint staff to supply vital resources for festival attendees, and additionally, for many of our festival media sponsors.  By making these items available to attendees the Festival shows its support and appreciation of sponsors and supporters encouraging future support.
