Washboard Chaz Blues Trio
The Washboard Chaz Blues Trio is a New Orleans favorite founded in 2002. The Trio performs acoustic blues, including the Delta, Chicago and Piedmont finger picking styles. They mix originals and Western Swing into their set lists as well. Consisting of Washboard Chaz on washboard and vocals, Andy J. Forest on harmonica and vocals and St. Louis Slim on guitar, the trio continues to amaze audiences with full sound and the ability to get the crowd dancing. The Trio was featured in the first season of HBO's hit show Treme, and have been nominated for many "Best of Blues Awards" and was OffBeat magazine's Best Emerging Blues Band for 2004. Their classic sound sends locals and visitors alike to the Frenchmen Street music district for their performances at renown clubs like The Spotted Cat and dba. The Blues Trio's four recordings include 2002's "Courtyard Blues," 2004's "Dog Days," 2006's "Hard Year Blues" and 2008's "Mix it Up" and each capture the authenticity of their live sound. The Trio has played the at the New Orleans French Quarter Festival from 2003 through 2009, and New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival from 2006 through 2009. The trio was awarded OffBeat Magazine's Best Emerging Blues Band award for 2004. The Trio has built a loyal following in Europe, playing summer tours in Italy, Switzerland and France since 2006.
